Yep, I hear voices, and you probably do, too.

After almost an hour of snoozing my alarm this morning, this voice kept repeating, “You’re fine; you have thirty more minutes.”

But something wiser was pulling me from unconsciousness.

The dialogue went something like this:
Thirty more minutes, it’s fine!
Check the time.
No, no, don’t check. It’s thirty minutes. It’s fine.
Check. Check the time.
No, no, don’t. Sleep is good.

Finally, I clawed through the narration and glanced at my phone. First, I thought I did have thirty minutes, but then I realized that my first English class was in five minutes

Back to reality.

I’m an online ESL teacher, and if I’m two minutes late, the class is canceled. And not only that, I have to pay the company instead of getting paid. So, when I miss a class, it actually becomes the opposite of a job.

Now, I had five minutes to turn on my computer, pull up the classroom, get out of pajamas, make my bed, pee, brush my teeth, scrape my tongue, wash my face, and drink water.
